Building as I Go
Coaching insight, lived experience, and what I’m still learning.
Just over a decade ago, I sat in a doctor’s office with chest pain and the quiet thought: this might be it.
It wasn’t. But it was a moment that made me stop. Rethink. Shift.
At the time, I didn’t know what I needed — I just knew something had to change. I started moving more, learning everything I could about nutrition, strength, stress, and recovery. Eventually, that path led to coaching.
But before that? I was doing something completely different. I had built a whole career in a separate industry — and for a long time, I thought that was just how life was supposed to go. Keep your head down. Push through. Provide. Perform.
What I didn’t expect was that this shift would lead me to a whole new career — one I never saw coming but now can’t imagine not doing.
And coaching brought me into something even more powerful: conversation. Thousands of hours spent helping people find their way forward — sometimes with a plan, often with just a question and a willingness to listen.
That’s what this space is about.
But let me be clear:
This newsletter isn’t just for you.
It’s for me too.
It’s a place to share what I’m learning, what I’m wrestling with, what I’m thinking about as I continue walking this path myself. Coaching gives me the privilege of helping others — but I’m always in the work too. Evolving. Rebuilding. Figuring it out.
This space — like me — is being built as it goes. And I hope that in sharing what I’ve learned (and what I’m still learning), it helps you keep building too.
So what you’ll find here won’t be polished perfection.
It’ll be honest. Practical. And hopefully, useful.
Who I Am
I’m Mikkel Clark — a nutrition coach, movement and performance specialist, and someone who didn’t start here.
I spent the first half of my adult life in a completely different career. But after a series of health scares and a deeper reckoning with what I wanted my life to feel like, I knew something had to change. I didn’t just want to feel better — I wanted to live differently.
So I made the leap. I left the safety of what I knew and stepped fully into this work — not because I had it all figured out, but because I couldn’t not share what I was learning.
Since then, I’ve worked with hundreds of clients and spent thousands of hours in deep conversation — listening, coaching, troubleshooting real life. That experience has shaped how I approach everything.
This isn’t about rigid plans or perfect routines.
It’s about creating something sustainable. Something real.
It’s about helping people — maybe people like you — feel better in their body, more at ease in their life, and more confident navigating whatever’s next.
Who This Is For
If you’re in your 40s or 50s…
Trying to get back in shape or reclaim some energy…
Juggling work, family, aging, stress — and wondering how to take care of yourself in the middle of it all…
Or maybe you just want to feel better again — clearer, stronger, more in control…
You’re in the right place.
I work with people who are high-performing but overwhelmed. Thoughtful but stuck. People who’ve tried a dozen things and are still searching for something that actually fits their life.
This space is where I’ll share what I’ve seen work — and what I’m still figuring out.
What You Can Expect
Tools and ideas for eating, moving, and recovering in ways that make sense
Thoughts from coaching conversations, with permission and anonymity
Reflections from my own life — what I’m experimenting with, where I’m stuck, what’s helping
A lens on well-being that includes performance, mindset, aging, and adaptability
Sometimes, just a nudge or a question to help you reconnect with what matters
This won’t be a place for hacks, hype, or high-pressure plans.
This will be a place for thoughtful, evolving support. For you — and for me.
What I Believe
I don’t believe in perfection.
I believe in adaptability.
In useful tools, not rigid rules.
I believe in building a toolkit — one that helps you get back on track, even if “on track” looks different every season.
I believe your habits should serve your life — not become a second job.
I believe strength and self-respect are worth pursuing, at any age.
And I believe that change happens through consistent attention, not dramatic overhauls.
Why I’m Doing This
Because even after years of coaching, I still need this kind of space — to think out loud, to learn in public, to offer something that might help you feel a little more grounded, a little more capable, and a little less alone.
So this is for all of us who are still figuring it out.
Still refining. Still rebuilding.
Still trying to live a life that feels right.
Thanks for being here.
I’m really glad you are.
✌️❤️🤙
